In the hierarchy of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” reuse comes before recycle for a reason– from an environmental health standpoint, it’s much better to reuse items than to recycle them. It saves energy by requiring that fewer new items be produced, and also saves the energy required to shred / smelt / melt materials for recycling. According to the US EPA, “reduction and reuse are the most effective ways you can save natural resources, protect the environment and save money.”

When we see that there’s potential life left in items that hit our scrap yard, we divert them out of the recycling pile and onto the Stargate Metals showroom floor.
