Heavy Equipment Recycling

There really is no job too big for Research Alloys! Yesterday, the steel yard was all abuzz as we unloaded an old front-end loader weighing in at a whopping 82,000 pounds. Now, our team will begin the process of scrapping the equipment to prepare for recycling.

Tires will be removed and sent for rubber recycling; the engine will be removed, along with the hydraulic components like the motor, pump, and valves; the battery will be removed and palletized for lead recovery; and finally, the body of the machine will be cut up with a plasma torch to prepare to head for steel smelting. There’s really very little on a big piece of equipment that can’t be recycled–it’s just a matter of having the skills and crew to dismantle all the parts first.

With our fully-enclosed steel yard, we’re able to work year-round on these sorts of projects. We regularly process over-sized equipment, including forklifts, front-end loaders, semi trailers, and even jet engines on occasion! If you’re searching for an outlet for end-of-life equipment, look no further than Research Alloys. Give us a call and see what we can do for you or your business.
