At Research Alloys, we’re proud to recognize the men and women who serve our nation and thank them for their sacrifices. Whether you’re an employee, a vendor, or a loyal customer– thank you. Read on to learn more about our staff veterans and our upcoming Veterans Day promotion.
Tom Busalacchi, our Operations Manager, served in the United States Air Force from 1980 until 1983 and retired as an SRA . Tom says his time in the USAF was a great learning experience–as a crew chief, he had many responsibilities and got tons of experience that he brings to his role at Research Alloys, including knowledge of pneumatics systems, electronics, and hydraulics. These days, Tom can be found managing the crew and equipment in our Blue Building; and while there are no helicopters or fighter jets to maintain, he stays plenty busy.
Shawn Hagedorn, our semi-truck driver, served in the U.S. Army from to 2001-2006 and retired as an E4. Shawn says that the Army was a good experience for him, and he enjoyed bonding with fellow soldiers and was proud to serve his country. Driving military fuel tankers and supply trucks proved to be great training for Shawn’s civilian life, as he now handles all of our long-distance loads. And while hauling scrap metal is way less dangerous than being in a convoy under fire, we’re glad Shawn likes his job.
Eric Farris, our small loads driver and crane operator, served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1991-1999, retiring as an E5. Eric says he loved his time in the Navy and misses it very much. In particular, he enjoyed the travel and adventure, as his post took him to dozens of countries all over the globe. It may not be a submarine, but his trusty UD truck is where you’ll find Eric these days, picking up materials from client sites and delivering them back to Research Alloys.
We feel incredibly lucky to have such a close and diverse team here at RA, and our veterans are part of what makes our team so strong! And while we salute our service members every day of the year, we’d like to do something special on Veterans Day to express our appreciation.
On November 11th, any past or current service members will receive an extra 10% pay-out on their scrap ticket when they provide valid military ID. Stop by 110 N. Sylvan Ave. in Columbus and see what makes our incredible team the best in the Central Ohio scrap business. And again– to all service members, past and present – thank you.
