According to Steel Industry News, US steel prices are rising significantly. Major producers are raising their prices again, and Research Alloys is following suit. Read on to learn more about what’s going on with scrap steel.

Across the nation, steel orders continue to pour in despite slightly decreased manufacturing demand– that’s because uncertainty in the market caused by tariff changes had led many manufacturers to wonder where their steel may be coming from next year. Tariffs of 50% on imported steel have made foreign steel less competitive, meaning that there is increased demand for domestic steel. And domestic steel relies heavily on the recycled content generated by the scrap metals industry.

At Research Alloys, we always strive to give our customers top dollar for their scrap materials. That’s why we’ve raised sheet iron payout prices for our commercial and industrial clients and our daily, individual drive-through recycling center customers as well. Sheet iron is now paying $160 per gross ton– just over $ .07 per pound. We realize that every little bit helps, especially as the holidays approach, so we’re passing on higher prices to our customers!

“Sheet iron” is a pretty broad term at our yard and includes thousands of everyday metal objects– from filing cabinets and metal shelves to hubs and rotors, old fencing and bicycles, even nuts and bolts. It also includes items like appliances (including old refrigerators, stoves and ovens), steel rims, and even old non-upholstered furniture.

Stop by our convenient drive-through recycling center and get paid today for your old sheet iron. We’re central-Ohio’s only fully enclosed scrap facility, meaning everything is under roof– perfect for those chilly, rainy autumn days! Call (614) 244-4404 with any other prices inquiries.
